TMI or “411” for WFMW

[wfmwbannerKRISTEN.jpg]

Depending on whose reading this post that is..

Hi there it’s official I’ve reached the third week of recovery and if your new (welcome!) U can read here to catch up.

Anyways according to the Dr. and other sources, I have approximately six more weeks till I’ll be able to reach up above my head or (achem..)wipe normally again.

I’ll be brief ..

  • I can only sleep on my back and this stinks as I tend to be a pillow ~hugging~ spoon~ fitting~ snuggler.
  • I’m walking like a *geriatric* ~stiff, slow and braced for an emergency. Never understood them till now..poor guys!
  • If I do too much I get sore and swollen..if I do too little it’s the same result only on my bottom side.
  • I’m gonna stop here cause I’m starting to sound like *one* too..

that was the bad.

the good:

  • I can where button down tops!!!
  • I feel sure my family has much more respect now when it comes to a clean and organized home. Now that they have to do it.
  • the responses (compliments) from friends and family alike are confirmations and make me feel like all the above is worth it.
  • no need for pain relievers..at all.

not so fun:

  • while I really don’t want to put on more weight..sitting here is not helping me either.
  • I’m becoming prickly as some of the stitches sewn inside are starting to poke through the skin resembling that of a cactus plant. The Dr warned me it would feel like splinters,an understatement.
  • I still have to “redress” twice a day and at $7 a tube of triple Antibiotic..it’s costly! On 5th tube already!

So here’s the deal..if you have suggestions to help me get through the next six weeks of this stuff..I’d love to hear!

And if your a walking encyclopedia of suggestions or have a wealth of info please visit Kristen @ We are that family for WFMW as this weeks edition is “Dilemma’s presented” and you readers are the help!

You know, it's been so long that I don't remember much. I just remember being very happy that I didn't have to wear that hateful binder anymore. And I remember how happy I was that I had done it. Hope your recovery continues on this track and before you know it, you're past all of the not-so-good and right square in the middle of the wonderful!

Dang girl...you need a buddy to hang out with!
That's what makes me feel new again.
Sorry you are in such shape.
Praying for a quick recovery!

I'm sorry...I have never had surgery quite like yours, so I can't really give you any advice! :(

I do hope you feel better soon! :)

Just think this time next year you wont even remember all the bad stuff, you will just be reaping the benefits. :)

I just hope that time goes fast for you. I am so glad that you can wear what you and not have to worry about it anymore. I just know you'll feel great in no time. And like Val said, won't be long and you won't even remember.

I agree with Valarie....just remember it will all be over soon. I know it is hard, but be patient. Just enjoy your down time and relax. There's plenty of time to get going again and then you will miss just being able to rest. I say take it easy. Lisa~

I had that surgery 7 years ago. So glad I did it. Although I admit, I am still large, and I wish that the Dr. had gone a lot smaller. But the recovery wasn't bad after the first week. You'll be able to lift, reach, etc in probably another week. Think positive :)

AWWW! It sounds like your still pretty uncomfortable. I didn't realize your recovery time was going to be so lengthy. To bad we don't live close. We could keep each others spirits up!
