Eating like an King/Queen/Pauper

Something that’s lead me to believe I should follow the old saying. *

Recently while at a bookstore I picked up a Dieters cookbook by Better Homes and Gardens..you see I wasn’t there for the book I just happen to have a few minutes to browse while the kids where playing with the humongous train station, that only cost $486 or can be yours for free for a trip every now and then which is how I roll and is besides the point.

Anyways now you know how I came be there and why I’m just scanning the $30 said book, curious to see some recipe ideas.

Opening up to the preface I noticed a  caloric mathematical calculation form type thingy. It figures out your daily calorie intake. Hmmm

Why not?

WARNING: Beeecauuuusssseeeee afterwards you will feel an immense amount of guilt that’s why!

After finally figuring out how to use it, I sat down with the calculator..punching some numbers for age x 4.3 then height x 4.3 then weight x 4.3 total some x’s ? and again multiplying it against 4.7 and then you had to subtract the total number from another..I lost track..and still have no clue how they got those numbers?! But hey it's BH&G right?

Finally the result was in =  by eating only 1648 calories daily I would shed pounds and still function normally (whatever that is?) But with 2-3 hours of exercise (weekly) the intake goes up to 1827 calories daily.

Of course for every hour you worked out you could consume more.

Then I had this fleeting thought

“I can do this..” wait a minute..I’m supposed to walk around every day like an adding machine?!

Hellooooo what about independence the freedom from being concerned!

I’m not that structured..I like to fly by the seat of pants..it’s me..I couldn’t remember between one meal and the next and I’ve never liked feeling restricted!

This was until I haphazardly walked into this caloric intake trap.

!Beware! these numbers will plague you however if you like me need some type of discipline.

So I put up the big bad healthy ok helpful in it’s own way book ..and decided to keep those numbers in my head..to remind me to “Simplify and Arrive.”

Here’s what’s worked for ages and ages..

* “Eat a Kings breakfast, Queens Lunch and a Paupers supper..” *

And so far I’m not missing anything besides dinner ;) and this has actually been good cause I’m sleeping better!

And this is what I’ve learned this week: “To be careful when your curious..it might make you accountable!”

What have you learned?

that's a good plan...big breakfast and smaller as the day goes on!

You are so right my friend! I love the way it's called king, queen & pauper. Thanks for the tip.

I never count calories or worry about a weight number...just pants size and heart smart for me.

I never could figure out the whole calorie counting thing- too time consuming.

I had heard that about eating a large breakfast, then smaller meals, but not sure I could cope.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

I've never done the calorie counting thing. I'd go cuckoo. Ha! I'm more concerned about the KIND of calorie than how big it is. (empty calories are evil hehe)
Meal size makes a lot of sense too.

That is a great motto to follow. I know many people who eat their smallest meal at night, (soup, salad, or fruit) and they don't have weight issues. I am currently trying to lose about 15 lbs. So lots of produce, whole grains, little to no sugar, and water. It is not too bad.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and offering advice. Stop by again anytime!

Blessings!

So...what does a Pauper eat for dinner?

Very interesting. I would not be able to count calories all day every day. I think moderation is key. Now only if I could follow that and exercise too.

Go ahead and fly by the seat of your pants if you want... Just beware that those pants can quickly slow you down as they start acting like a parachute behind a drag racer...

Love, your ample bottomed friend, who knows of what she doth speak.

This has been on my mind as well

i've never heard that phrase before, but we've been loosing weight around here and have learned that a bigger breakfast and then smaller meals throughout the day help - with the three or four times a week 2-mile run.
