A portrait of Love in the 70's

This week's "sincerely fro you to me" by Kristen @ we are that family is a little bit mushy so please bare with me as I've been bitten by the love bug...again.

As you squint to see this picture, your looking at my mom & dad who were about to cut their wedding cake on August 12, 1973.

Mom made her simple lavender colored wedding dress in which everything was coordinated, from dad's tie to the punch.

As I was looking at this, the one thing that stood out that I didn't see or don't remember seeing often as a child.

She was really in love with dad all those years before their divorce. No one can deny that was a face of a woman in love.

So how does one (me) guard themselves from becoming a "statistic" these days?

My research over the years has led me to believe without a doubt the Heavenly Father's faithfulness in answering prayers for our marriage.

Matthew 19:5 says we are a team, one unit, unified in spirit.

Understanding that a wife's prayers have a far greater effect on her husband than anyone else's, even that of his own mothers. (SORRY MOM'S)  The strength of a man and wife joined together in God's sight is far greater than the sum of the strengths of each two individuals. That's because the Holy Spirit unites them and gives added power to their prayers.

Here's our fro engagement pix taken only 13 yrs ago in the 90's of this month.PICT0031

(Had I known then what I know now...still the "dance" was worth it.)

There's power in a praying wife...and by living  this way consistently we're sure to have God's Blessings Always!

Happy "Sincerely Fro me to You" Day!

What a sweet post and awesome reminder! We have to work on it every day, huh? And guard against the outside forces that try to tear at our wall!!

That's sad it ended in divorce. :(
But thanks for mentioning prayer. It is the thing I have clung to during those times that things seemed really hard, and it has also brought sweet fellowship when all is well and we pray together!

The photos are beautiful (despite your hair, so 90's, LOL)...but not as much as the message! :)

Great post! What a great reminder for us wives to pray for our men! I've been blessed with a wonderful husband and it can be easy to take our marriage for granted. You are right that we need to be lifting our hubbies up in prayer.

Very sweet picture of your parents :-) And matching her wedding colors to a punch? A woman after my own heart.

I love your picture. I had a lot of forehead showing in the 90's, too!

I came for the pictures, but I stayed for the reflections on marriage.
Thanks for putting it so eloquently.
