Since we started working on our "house of faith" project. Moving in September 2006, each baby step taking us closer to a place we would eventually accept humbly as our home.
Only one thing was missing, company.
In prior years we enjoyed having friends over on weekends sometimes even weeknights sharing meals and special events, needless to say we were really having withdrawals from our homes social life.
Sure, we had family over several times and they encouraged us each time and even allowing us to host 2007 Thanksgiving dinner here, even as COLD as it was! We knew they were in it for the long haul when they never complained that their lips were turning blue or that the turkey was refreezing.
Still we were not ready to invite others over to be uncomfortable, seriously (in my best M.Greys tone) You only do this to your relatives.
(THANKS FAMILY! We love you for this!)
We finally got our fix!
It happened this past Friday spontaneously and then again on Saturday evening and it was Great!
Mixed up some ice tea, chatted endlessly about "signs of the times.." and other faith object lessons. Kids played and hit geodes purchased from a learning store. Then the two toddlers started picking up more rocks in the drive to hit, like a new toy in a box...the box is what they play with?!
This being said dh & I realized we were being BLESSED! and welcome more company to fill our home (in the makings) with fellowship!
Deuteronomy 28:8"The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you."

Glad you had a wonderful time fellowshipping in your home. We love to have our home filled, too, and feel blessed to "host" last minute get togethers. One of our favorite things to do is to run our for a couple watermellons and then just start calling people to see who can come help us eat them. (Fun on a hot Sunday afternoon.) Or, grab a few bags of marshmallows and fire up the firepit. (Not so good on hot summer days but fun on cooler evenings.)
Blessings! Dawn W (the other one!)
Sounds like you had a special time. How much longer until your house is done?
My kids love rocks too!
So many details and projects...it may be years from now or in the next few months!
This depends on the Lord's blessings.
Feel free to say a prayer for us in this matter!
Love your blog!
I read that you homeschool your kids - how do you like that?
I am planning on homeschooling as well - and could definitely use any advice you could share :)
Good luck on your house projects!
I love having company. Getting everything ready before they come is annoying, but each time someone leaves, I feel enriched!
Sounds like you had a great time! I love having company over but it truly stresses out my OCD husband so it doesn't happen very often. Hopefully this summer when they can be out at the pool we will do it a little more...it is truly a blessing to talk to grown ups!
