This last Saturday morning as I was preparing for church..getting kid 1, 2 and 3 ready.
I went to see what I could wear again and still feel special for Sabbath.
When I picked out my attire for the day, I then looked to coordinate it with some shoes.
Old shoes.
I remember thinking how it would be nice to have a new pair of shoes.
Sometimes it just takes something little to make the rest of the outfit feel newer.
Agree?
Anyways, I had to get ready to go with the family so I dismissed it and headed out the door.
My “desire” pushed aside and forgotten about.
After arriving at the church an elderly lady whose always has a nice things to say about what I’m wearing..comes up to me and says
“Dawn what size shoe do you wear?”
I smiled and tell her..and she says “well I have a couple of pairs of shoes in the car, so after church remind me to give them to you.”
Now at first thought I admit I wasn’t sure our styles would click..you know the age difference thing doesn’t help. But I said “why thank you” and “sure thing”.
Yes I’m picky.
And I don’t have a snob attitude about 2nd hand..in fact I mostly shop this, but only when it’s my idea and only if it fits what I want.
So after church, she ask me to follow her out and I did, she pulls out the first box and opens it and there are some of my grandmas white sandal type high heel shoes.
I said thank you but inside was thinking..I’ve never owned any white shoes and I don’t think I’m ready to embrace this age, yet. Then out comes another box but this time it’s a well known brand..which perks my interest if only a little, off come the top and there staring me straight in the face are a brand new pair of black sandaled pumps that left me slack jawed...I was in admiration mode then.
I was so giddy and realized at this very moment. NO ONE KNEW about the thought I had just had this morning about getting a NEW pair of shoes.
NO ONE that is except for GOD.
When I shared my excitement about this with her, she was as tickled as I and said she brought them for a wedding last summer and never wore them becuase they weren’t comfortable.
Said she was tickled I liked them.
When I went back in wearing my newer shoes to show my hubs..my “grand dad” snapped a pix of this..he always has a camera..so here’s the actual moment I got them ;) Can’t you see the happiness in those feet?!
You just never know what could become of your thoughts..hmmm ;)
