thoughts on Gentleness

Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great. 2 Sam. 22:36 

We are to represent Christ in His meekness and gentleness and love, right?


Because from what I understand, true gentleness is a gem of great value in the sight of God.


What better place to put this to work then at home, and how much better would our family circle thrive with it!


When we manifest a spirit of gentleness and of meekness and of long-suffering our children thrive because having a faultfinding, fretful, scolding spirit only breaks down communication and causes distention, separation.


I can remember times when this happened..and I was confused as to why I wasn't getting the response I desired.


The only way to teach them to have a spirit of gentleness, is my modeling it.


For our children to manifest a spirit of love toward us, we must manifest a gentle, loving spirit toward them.


At the same time being careful to not be weak in discipline (not following through) or indulgent in their fleshly desires.  Buying them love..is an indulgence. whoops.


A mother who rules the roost has firmness and respect.


She is as firm as a rock, and doesn't swerve from the right.


Her rules carried out at all times, doing this with all gentleness and meekness. . .this will also help to train up the children as God-fearing men and women.


No member of the family could enclose himself within himself, where other members of the family shall not feel his influence and spirit.


Understand? 


We each in our actions influence the others..so the very expression of the countenance has an influence for good or evil.




Our spirit, words, actions,attitude toward others, are unmistakable. . . .and if we are filled with the love of Christ, we will manifest courtesy, kindness, tender regard for the feelings of others, and will communicate this even outside the home, by acts of love, a tender, grateful, happy feeling.


Putting to practice the spirit of gentleness in our home will be far reaching in our community.


Because it will be made manifest that we are living for Jesus. . . .and will be able to say to the Lord,


 "Thy gentleness hath made me great!"
