imitators

Yesterday as I boarded flight 711 I had a couple concerns..

One:  that the plane be inspected, operated well and flight worthy for departure and landing ;)

Two: that I would be able to sit next to an individual who may have the same spiritual interest. Not that I am one to have a great spiritual conversations with but at least we would be on the same page.

And truthfully this was more in part because the first 800 miles was to Las Vegas..and I was almost sure I would sit next to someone who was on their way to “win big” or had high hopes of setting things right in their life.

So the opportunity to talk about this was most likely to happen.

Having only flown a few times on airliners, I asked my dh where I should sit. He flies often for work and sent a text back saying he preferred behind the wings.

So as I’m walking down the aisle I’m busy looking for seating by a window behind the wings, instead of faces.

I found the emergency exit seat was still vacant. You know it’s the place where “if” you find yourself in an emergency you need to be one to remain calm, follow directions and not panic. No problem..I can handle this, especially if it means getting off first. ;p

So this is where I ended up..and it was next to a guy sitting on the aisle seat who claimed the middle seat with books. I think it was his plan to steer people from sitting right next to him as to have more elbow room.

As I settled in I looked over to get a better look at those books occupying the middle seat..and what do I see but an NIV Bible and a few inspirational books..here’s where I’m thinking “nice work Lord we have something in common “between” us ;)

But as it was he had his nose buried in them and was going to town with a highlighter the whole trip :0/ ..the only time he talked to anyone was when he wanted nuts and a drink. I think when we landed he mumbled a few things about being 20mins early.

So I just used the time to read some of my books I brought along..my bible and some great mom inspirational books.

You know I realize now that I received exactly what I prayed for.

Was it really what I wanted or should have asked?

God had a plan, but I have a will..and it occurs to me that my willingness flew out the window with that request I made.

Anything was possible and truth is now I have an idea of  how others might view an “imitator” of God. Boring, maybe self-absorbed.

Here’s what it should resemble:

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. ~ Ephesians 5: 1-2

While I was willing to visit with a stranger I “asked for us to be on the same page” and because of this I’m sure I missed a great opportunity to share and minister to each other even “off the same page”.

However there was confirmation to know He hears me and provides even for those boring request.

All in all it’s all good..I’m going back in 5 days. I’ll have a do over!

Maybe this time you'll be with someone who needs to hear exactly what you have to share. God amazes me when He sets up divine appointments like that. I just wrote a post yesterday about my cousin who came to visit. I started sharing what God did for me, then a miracle happened!

Love & hugs to you girl!

Maybe on the way home, you will be given an opportunity to share the name of Jesus with someone who desperately needs Him to put their life back together. Have a great trip and safe travels!
