Needless to say I was captivated, even after only 4hrs of sleep the night before(just a little excited for the "first day back to school") where we dropped off the oldest and drove six hours to Humble TX. for family business as I eat/shop/eat/swim/eat (YES! the life of a SAHM..is soo ruff)
and then stayed up till midnight to see who finally wins!
I'll most likely pay for it today while trying to entertain both toddlers as daddy's in meetings all day.
Seriously~ what these athletes put their bodies through is just amazing, and what it means to them even more so.
Now I'm not going to discredit how flawless or beautiful it all was,
I would like to comment though on how the young girls all had "game faces" on the whole event till their last performance was over.
I was adamantly telling my dh "look at them they won't say a thing or even smile, man I'm really disappointed in how they're acting towards their team members while not being more supportive?!"
All while my dh whose more familiar with "game faces" (record holding pole vaulter in his HS yrs) is explaining "this is just how it is."
Still I insisted "but one of them is not going to be first..and the others gonna have to eat crow, so they may as well encourage one anther, regardless"
At the end there were smiles and hugs all around and even I sat and watched in tears (read bawling like a baby) over their victories.
The aftermath is what it is..."it's always good to win and it's stinks to come in second".
There's only one event in this life where everyone can be a winner and the prize at the end is eternal. "Do you have your game face on? Are you following the rules as you look to win and as you are doing this are you encouraging others towards the same goal because this is a very large part of the inheritance of the crown and the jewels that are placed there?"
Just my random thoughts and what I know I need to be training towards even harder...
Now off to wake up the family for another "exciting day for spending, eating and chasing Sissy and Trooper to much in this climate describe as humid. Hence the reason I really love the Hill Country as you don't' feel like you need a shower right after you step out of one, ick!
O' and then we are off to visit an Uncle and Aunt North of here where he set up an airstrip for him to land on right in their very own backyard of her new house, if that's not love I don't know what is?!
Have a great day in the Lord and remember your "game face"...
