"sleeping in on the last morning of trip...while I get to pack up everything?!"
After a sugary Breakfast
the kids entertained us for the next 2 1/2 Hour road trip.
can you say earplugs?!
For lunch on the marina...which ended up to be a one and a half hour affair.
Thing is... we were really enjoying the boats coming & going
Plus we were busy coaxing
our dd off the wall
Seems she developed a fear of heights over water, looking at this now she does look a little green in the first pix :0/
When the food finally showed up she wasn't so easily intimidated, that's my girl!
Did I tell you, we had the honor of a *new trainee* who forgot to turn in our order twice, smiling and reminding her that the kids were starting to eat the tables and the chairs would follow after soon...she went back in to "check on our order".
because we were on our vacation(not in a hurry) and really welcomed the scenery outside the SUV, we did not complain NOt once!
(patting myself on the back)
After about an hour of watching sail boats going out and in, our stomachs starts to bring us back to reality.
The manager eventually shows up to announce to the parents of table eating kids "lunch is on the house ~ marina!"
Object Lesson: be patient and your bill of $60 could be paid in full!
Funny thing is when we asked our "trainee waitress" for tip change , she took it and didn't return?!
After debating what to do, I sought her out and she handed me the $20 insisting "here you get change and bring it back to me."
I'm hoping she doesn't make a career out of waiting cause she's liable to starve!
(FYI: Wait staff unwritten code)
especially after such poor service. Fill the doggie bags with extra condiments and shine their shoes as they walk out But NEVER never EVEr tell the customer to get their own change!
*VIP waitress in my college days*
this week She is $10 shorter because she didn't at least get her own change...poor thing.
Oh well this did not dampen our spirits as we set out for the next adventure... the big ship!
USS Lexington followed by a trip next door to the
were we will take really bad pix and miss the dolphin show :0(
Stayed tuned for more about how to wear out your kids so they don't wear you out on the last leg of your road trip!

What a cute family! I look forward to seeing pictures from the rest of your trip. We haven't been on vacation yet, so I am living vicariously through everyone else :)
Sounds like fun, *despite* the bad waitress - like you said - she'll learn or she'll starve. I esp. hate it when you ask for change for a $20 and they give you two tens - "HELLO! Trying to leave you a tip here!" Every good waitress knows you give change in increments allowing for maximum tippage!
Fun, Fun!! We had a waitress experience like that once, but they just gave us a percentage off. Needless to say we will not go back to that place. :)
Sounds like a good day minus the waitress. Looks like it was a great trip!!!! :) Heather S.
Oh, my... we've "lived" this same day! Lunch at the marina followed by the aquarium there in Corpus!
How fun! We're anxiously awaiting our beach trip - two weeks from today!!!
