Friday

Happy Friday!

It's cold outside of our cozy warm "family room"..breakfast needs to be made, children need to get up and be dressed, however before I do any of this I want to jot a few notes of encouragement down for those who check in today. :0)

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”- 1 Corinthians 10:13

Just yesterday I was tempted, I really wanted to stop and pick up a chi tea latte, which is loaded with sugar=calories. Saying to my self "is it worth it?" Sounds yummy, but I had to get to my destination..nope no time. H2O instead..so this is only small temptation I was successful at, but still if I'm faithful in the small things then it's easier to be faithful in the larger also, here's a bigger one.

Once I get to SA the traffic was not good and the off ramp I needed is backed up like a mile, all are waiting to exit, some coming into the lane with blinkers and waving and others pulling out to zip on down the road. (It's crazy the way city folks drive!) Just as I was thinking this, another temptation to "lay on the horn ~in defense" and I did NOT..while another women cuts me off ( didn't even look my way?) as I'm exiting the ramp...I thought how rude ..no blinker ..no short wave of thanks and totally rude..OK she may be having a bad day, right?
Off we go up the ramp down the road, she zooms off and I forget about it.
Here I go on my way, until I need to turn off again at the airport ..oh no, another exit ramp backed up. I proceed and wait for my turn to merge into one lane. As I pull up, there she is again..and as I take my turn to merge like those before me, this causes her to have to wait and I'm guessing she didn't like this because she "laid on the horn" like forever.

Now as a parent when my kids throw a tantrum, it's easy for me to say "I don't think so.." (hence my thoughts) but in a situation as this I ignore it and continue to drive on.
Road rage, you know I've heard most traffic accidents happen because of failure to "share" the road. Simple courtesy would cut large percent of accidents and in some cases deaths,if we just shared the road.
It bothered me the way this driver acted and I told the Lord about and that I was sorry for the feelings that boiled up in me. However after reading this scripture above, it would not have been a temptation if I had shared the road and allowed her to go on instead knowing what I knew about her before..:0-/.

Reflection: The Lord does not lead us into temptation, we can get ourselves there.
He only provides a way out of it, scripture says.
I'm also under the impression this scripture below goes hand in hand with this experience.

23"Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive. 24Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. 1 Corinthians 10:23-24

Well times up, and as tempting as it is to sit here all morning reflecting, I know there's need to help others right now, and as I'm en route this morning, I'll try to remember to share and even give up my place for others who might need extra help to not be tempted.

TGIF!
