See that ^ crazy white girl in the picture?
That my friend would be yours truly.
In my element, trying to hug the space in those mountains.
I love the mountains like many love chocolate, sandy beaches or shopping.
There’s nothing that gets to me like a view from the mountaintops.
Tranquility and a quiet solace that only comes from this kind of space.
Feeling closer to Him has that effect on me..and if you asked me to live here..I’d do it in a New York minute ;)
I know, I’ve heard about the harsh winters and the snow shoveling fun..truth is even the snow doesn’t scare this country girl. Having visited every season I can’t say I don’t love them all..mostly winter actually..and it’s credited to that “white stuff” that interferes with life so often.
Serene, pure, untouched, translucent whiteness..well it’s everything I imagine heaven will be..without frostbite of coarse ;)
So every time I visit these parts an inner reflection goes on automatic in seeing just how magnificent His grace and mercy is in our lives!
Who I am what I love and how I wish to live becomes so much clearer, there’s no emotion or feeling that I can pin to it, just no feeling like it.
Back in Texas it was looking like a very long hot boring summer, no plans other then a quick trip to gulf coast, which the kids loved..and I enjoyed the break.
But really up until a few weeks ago I was experiencing a real hunger to load up and take another road trip.
However the single income no extra finances or time off didn’t allow for such luxuries.
As I sat back and watched on facebook or ran into others to hear about some memorable trips, I couldn’t help but long for the same opportunities for our own family.
Memory making trip..nothing fancy or posh..just something to store up the vacation space of my minds eye.
The last trip we took was back in March 2011 it was the first time our family went solo, by ourselves without other family members. The experience ended in a first very nice trip..no extras, no timeframes, no other people to consider places, eats or decisions and destinations.
We decided after that experience we would only go solo again..love our small trips camping and hoilday gatherings..but long road trips are for small groups of 5 ;)
Anyways..I’m rambling.
It was that trip that made us realize our family needs this more often and especially while our kids are young.
So there I was feeling the need for something..anything..even prayed specifically that He would make it happen.
Of course His timing is perfect and it just so happened that shortly after (2-3days later) I received a text message from my dh saying that his company was sending him to an engine certification class in Phoenix AZ.
Our wheels started turning..and the plan was in motion for us to accompany him on this business turned road trip.
And it just “happened” to be a 17 day getaway..coincidence? I think not.
We are still reeling that this happened to begin with..but it just kept getting better and better..so to give credit where credit is due, this is my tribute post to HIM. With God all things are possiable..especially when you pray HIS WILL be done. :) THANK YOU GOD :)
Stay tuned..more pix and rambling that I hope will in the end make sense :)
For now I’m going to go jump in the pool with my kids..it’s hot in Phoenix today!

YOU ARE A WOMAN AFTER MY OWN HEART, DAWN KNEESE! I LOVE THE MOUNTAINS & SNOW, & IF I COULD TAKE MY CHURCH & CHURCH FAMILY WITH ME & COULD AFFORD IT, JEFF & I WOULD BE UP IN COLORADO IN A NEW YORK MINUTE! AS IT IS, WE ARE LOOKING TO SELL OUR HOME & MOVE BACK TO COLORADO, BECAUSE THE DOCTOR TOLD JEFF THAT IF HE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE TEXAS HEAT & HUMIDITY, IT WAS GOING TO KILL HIM. SO... YOU NEVER KNOW, WE COULD END UP BEING NEIGHBORS SOMEDAY. :-)
BEAUTIFUL post! I love how nature makes me feel closer to our Creator! So glad you were able to take a vacations, they are definitely a blessing from the Lord!
