I'm here today for thought and reflection..you are my audience by choice only of course.
Today started with this scripture for me..
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”- Matthew 5:14,16
And while it sounds pristine and uncomplicated it's not how I've been feeling as of late.
In fact, quite the opposite.
I feel that the only light I have is that compared to the children's song.
Seems at times even that light is under the bushel (Oh no!) and not all around the neighborhood! However I still desire to let it shine till Jesus comes while, NOT letting satan blow it out..yet.
It's
a
constant
up
hill
battle.
Reading that I'm *we are* to be a light in the World and not in just my World..makes me feel..well..like"yeah right!"
But like most who try to walk with HIM daily..I seek regardless hoping to find understanding to problems or "how to's" for what lies ahead in that day. YKWIM?
Often times I have had the privilege of knowing just how to deal with what comes, using HIS Words.
Today..well that was a different story.
I read this verse I believe to be reminded of my place here as well to be warned for the task set before me. And yet while I was ready to do just that, I was met with tension, tears, anger and words that would penetrate to my human fallen nature gripping me to take vengeance. However..I have a choice.
I can ask HIM to "Let his light shine through me.. let it shine..let it shine.."
Or I can continue to be like the children's rendition "this little light of MINE...I'm gonna let it shine.."
So the question is, whose light are you using today?
And as an afterthought maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to teach that song differently to our children..hmm.
Romans 8:37
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
