Remember any of those school dances or even the proms?
I remember my Junior one because it was the last one I went to. and as a single girl...(before meeting my much older boyfriend aka knight in shining armor my hubby.)
After a broken heart my Sophomore year...I swore all boys off the summer after...
As a result my grades came up the next year. Friendships multiplied and the best part was my mom and I spent more time talking to each other instead of yelling. Who knew?!
It was easier than I thought it would be until prom time arrived then I spoke (read whined) to my friends in class..."I've gone to every dance since the 6th grade I don't won't to miss getting dressed up...besides I've got a cute pink dress altered shorter that needs to come out of the closet and I could order some of those adorkable pink dyed shoes. Hey I already have a new perm (yeah Kristen I thought it was cool then too...) and of course those press on nails (that I could make last forever) Umph...{singing "Poor~ poor~ pitiful me!"}
So later I'm walking from one class to another and here walks by an old friend (we'll call him "R") who says "so what color tux should I get?"
"huhn, what are you talking about?"
R says..."I've known you since 2nd grade, I heard you want to get all dressed up and I know you have sworn off all boys...so I'm your guy...besides my mom and sister are pestering me and you would look cute in a pix with me (winks) no conditions and then everybody's happy, even me."
"So your willing to take me "no strings attached" can you throw in dinner too?"
I know I was a bit pushy...but hey we really took some great pix and had a fun time.
The teachers voted this handed down from my sister's girlfriend 4yrs old pink dress as "the best dress" and my friend "R" will always have my appreciation for being "one of the good guys" who allowed me to have my "pretty in pink"moment!
{Before dress/hair and make-up...applying those plastic claws and boy what I'd give to be able to sit like that again...and still be able to breathe}
{First time to wear a strapless bra, mom was doing her best to "sew me in"...I was a bit nervous can you tell?}
"and check out that Fro"
{
That can of spray held up to the hours of dancing...as my hair rocked (literally it was a rock!)...that was some serious stuff.}
What a blessing to look back to see just how the Lord provided...even when I was not looking to HIM, still HE was looking out for me.."
"Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host
one by one,and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing."

"I like your sleeves. They're real big."
Very cute girl in that pink dress!
Jen
Wowzer...Molly Ringwald had nothing on you! That is the most, ummm, pink thing I have ever seen. And the fluffiness is beyond compare!
What a sweet story to boot.
Ah, the press on nails! I remember those as well! Beautiful story!
I loved press on nails! And those ruffles were really rock'n'!
Oh my...how I remember those 80's hairstyles! And all that hairspray to make it work!
Isn't it funny how we thought we were "stylin'" at the time? And now we look back and say, "What was I thinking??"

I actually really like the dress, in a totally rockin' 80s way. I tried the press-on nails once for a formal in high school, and I couldn't even make them last the evening.
I think your hair is a great 80's do....you looked awesome and you rocked the pink girlfriend!!
Heather S.
Don't you just love the eighties? Perms, pink, and what about the dude with the cowboy hat ? Love it !!! Oh and about the red hots, I have a cinnamon addiction. I love fire balls, red hots, and hot tamales !! We can be friends.
LOL at Jennifer's comment! I was thinking the same Napoleon quote. ;)
