blessedness

Recently I heard on a radio program a discussion of saying “I am blessed or the Lord blessed me..” and how this may sound to others when said.

Some had the opinion that it was an expression of gratitude and carried a praise to God.

Others said it sounded as if you might possibly be bragging because you may have “earned” it.

Until recently this was the farthest thing from my mind however the latter got me to thinking that I don’t want to seem like a big brag when I say “I was blessed today!"

For example right now I’m experiencing the “blessing” this morning of sitting in a warm spot next to the fireplace having a quiet hour, (as my husband drives an hour in the dark on this cold morning to work providing for us allowing me to do this) and I just can’t help but think the Lord is good to me today.

Brag or praise..let’s see what “blessedness” means.

After some reading I found a passage that explained that it’s really OK and in fact it even pleases the Lord when we acknowledge His “doings” in our lives.

“Blessedness is an indescribable inner sense of well-being and dignity, a clam assurance of self-worth. It is that vitality of spirit that you feel when you know deep down in the core of your being that you are rightly related to God .  It’s knowing that over time you are being conformed to His image. It is knowing that you are being used regularly for God’s purpose and that your life matters to Him. It’s knowing that God is pleased not only with who you are, but with what your are doing with your life. Knowing that God is providing individual protection, care, and guidance for you, that he is going to take you home with Him someday and your are going to spend eternity with Him.

BLESSEDNESS is that rock – solid confidence that God is in control of you life..even in the middle of the storms and trails.

And THAT is why I am BLESSED to know HIM.

Blessings to you and yours :)
