How to tackle "Bible time" and a very good lesson..."

TTBigButton

I usually read at nights to the kids right before bedtime...sometimes I let them pick out their favorite book and other times we pick a story from the  10 volumes of "The Bible Story" tonight I persuaded them with this one...

"Ten Sleepy Girls" based on Matthew 25:1-13 (if your not sure click on scripture for the entire story...but the books are really way cooler;0)

What started out as a story for my children has turned into a question for me?

As I read to them I kept thinking "am I sleepy and if I fall asleep will I still be ready when He comes?"

The lesson here is that we must always be ready for His return. Once the Bridegroom has arrived, it is too late to find what we need to make our hearts ready for Him. And we can't expect others to make our preparations for us, either.

"Watch!" He says to us. "Keep awake! Look out for the signs of MY return!"

"Some will be ready to meet Him, some will not. Some will go to heaven with Him, and some will be left out. In which group will you be?

"Let us all be ready with plenty of oil and with our lamps trimmed and burning when He comes."

This is what we have to look forward to...

new  If your looking for a way to "tackle" (read prepare) your family and learn more of God's true love for you this is a very good start to a great family bible study and tradition.

God Bless you as you seek a closer walk with Him!

Teaching God's Word is the best tackle we can attempt.

Thank you for sharing.

That is wonderful to have Bible time with your kids before bed. We usually do ours in the morning. It's also a joy to learn right along with them.

Great post! My oldest is 18 months, and we've been reading her a children's Bible since she was in NICU. I'm looking forward to the day we can actually study together!

Thanks for the comment. I enjoyed reading your blog. It is so important to read to children. My husband reads to our children. He would pick a book series and read with them and also do a devotion with them.

I have seen those books, but I don't tink we have them. We have other bible story books, that I read to Logan. I may have to find these for him.

I've been trying to read my Bible first thing in the morning. It helps when I make up a rule that i can't check any email or blogs until I've opened my Bible and read till my coffee is gone. :)
