Now I know there's not one perfect human (excluding JC) on this wicked planet that is God or is like God. However, we are instructed to "practice" the art of imitating God!
Seems we need to have a desire to follow Jesus in his walk, before we can desire to imitate him.
I believe we can learn more about what not to "imitate" by our choice of words we use to express ourselves ..seriously-can you imagine Jesus or even the Father using slang words and randomly cursing at those that they love?
"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."- Ephesians 5:1
To break away from old ways we have to see it for what it is, reflecting on our witness of how others may see us is one tool, "testing" yourself in the choice of conversation with others is another, but you know the easiest rule of thumb is this:
"if it does not give glory to the father..then do not say it!"
Unfortunately we live in a world where minds are taught that "love and hate" go hand in hand..this is far from the truth, when we encourage and lift others up to Christ in our conversations , then we are imitating Him.
